Does Clutter Block Money? What Feng Shui Says About Stagnant Energy and Abundance
I’m just going to say it.
Yes, clutter can block money.
Not because your house has to look perfect and definitely not because having a junk drawer means you’re doomed. But because clutter affects energy. And when energy in your home feels stuck, heavy, ignored, or chaotic, that energy starts showing up in other areas of your life too… including your money.
In Feng Shui, your home is not neutral. It affects how you feel, how you think, and what you feel available for. If your space is full of things you don’t use, don’t love, or are avoiding dealing with, that creates stagnant energy, which just as you’d guess, does not attract abundance.
Clutter is not just physical
Clutter is not just a pile of clothes on a chair or a drawer that barely closes.
Clutter can be:
the purse full of old receipts and random garbage
the closet packed with clothes that no longer fit or represent who you are
the broken thing you keep saying you’ll fix
the stack of returns you never returned
the drawer stuffed with things you haven’t touched in years
Every one of those things carries energy.
And a lot of that energy sounds like:I’ll deal with it later.I’m overwhelmed.I don’t have time.I’m avoiding this.I’m used to living around this.
And on the flip side, money likes spaciousness. Opportunities like movement.
When your space feels cluttered, it can feel harder to think and act clearly, and in turn, receive abundantly.
You can’t keep saying you want more while your space is full of old energy with nowhere for the new to go.
In Feng Shui, space is an invitation.
When you clear a drawer, a shelf, your front entry, your purse, or your closet,what you’re actually doing is sending a message that says:
I’m ready for something new.I’m making room.I’m available.I’m not gripping so tightly to what’s expired.
That is very different energy than holding onto everything just in case.
This is why clutter can affect money
Because clutter keeps you in the energy of the past.
Past versions of you.Past purchases.Past disappointments.Past fears.Past scarcity.
And when your home is packed with things you’ve outgrown, it gets harder to feel the energy of where you’re going.
Wealth is not just about money showing up.
It’s also about support, capacity, and trust.The ability to receive and hold more.
That’s hard to feel when your environment constantly reminds you of what’s unfinished.
Where to start if things feel stuck
Do not go clean your whole house in a panic because that’s not the point. Instead, I encourage you to pick one small area and make it count.
Start with:
your front door
one drawer
your purse
the chair covered in clothes
Set a timer for 10 minutes.
As you clear it, decide what you are making room for.
A new client.Paid in full invoices.More support.More peace.A raise.A better opportunity.Less financial stress.
Be specific.
You are not “just cleaning,” you are creating space for what you really want.
A simple question to ask yourself
When you look at the clutter in your home, ask:
Is this helping me move forward or keeping me in old energy?
That question will tell you a lot, because sometimes the issue is not the object itself. The issue is the drag of having to look at it every day and feel the low-grade guilt or avoidance (stagnant energy) that’s attached to it.
So if things have felt stuck lately, don’t just look at your strategy.
Look at your house.
